Ensures the collection of blood from donors according to safety procedures; Verifies the identity of donors and performs compatibility tests; Labels and stores blood components according to hygiene and safety standards; Collaborates with the general and cardiovascular surgery departments to ensure the delivery of the necessary blood patients; Checks the compatibility of blood or its components before administration; Transports the blood to the respective departments under optimal temperature and safety conditions; Ensures that patients receiving transfusions are constantly monitored for possible adverse reactions; Collaborates with doctors and other medical assistants to follow the condition of the patients and prevent any complications; Complete the transfusion sheets, note the information about the type of blood, the amount transfused, the date and time; Follow the rules of hygiene and personal protection, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE); Ensure optimal conditions for the prevention contamination of transfusions and infection of patients; Carry out the specific activities of the Blood Transfusion Unit in the hospital, within the limits of their competences, under the direct guidance and supervision of the coordinating physician; Perform pre- and post-transfusion tests; Responsible for the occurrence of severe adverse reactions And post-transfusion adverse incidents caused by the storage, improper handling of whole blood and blood components or the wrong performance of pre- and post-transfusion tests; Draws up the documentation for the activities carried out Actively participates in the planning and administration of transfusions during major surgical interventions or in case to patients with large blood losses; Participate in regular training to stay up to date with new regulations, procedures and techniques related to blood transfusion.
