Job Description
Lead physician for Radiation Therapy, Clinical Oncology Department, Zealand University Hospital
A rare position as a senior physician in Radiation Therapy is available. If you love radiation therapy, and are passionate about influencing professional development and collaboration in one of the country's largest radiation therapies, then this position might be for you.
You will be responsible for the Radiation Therapy in Region Zealand, which is currently located in Næstved, and will be staff manager for the 3 doctors in the head and neck cancer team as well as a smaller group of younger doctors in the department. Together with the head nurse and our chief physicist, you form a strong team as section management in Radiation Therapy with joint responsibility for operations, finances, research, quality and strategic development of the unit. The interdisciplinary staff group in Radiation Therapy is characterized by being ambitious, development-oriented and competent.
We are moving to Køge
The move to new buildings in Køge will be high on your management agenda in the first year.
Preparations for refugee in the 4th quarter of 2026 are already underway. In Køge, all the region's specialized treatment, research and teaching activities will be brought together under one roof, and already in September 2025 we will take over the new radiation therapy and start measuring the accelerators. Bed sections and outpatient clinics will follow in October/November 2026, when measurements have been completed and we are ready to welcome the first patients.
In 2027, the new Region East will become a reality. The three radiation therapies are already in full swing with the collaboration around the best joint solutions. We look forward to you being able to contribute to the important work.
Technological development
The radiation therapy in Region Zealand contains 5 accelerators: 2 Ethos, 2 TrueBeams and 1 Clinac iX accelerator. Ethos is used for adaptive treatment and all treatments are integrated this spring with a new surface scanning system which in the short term replaces tattoos and in the longer term can replace masks etc.
When Radiation Therapy moves to Køge in 2026, we will put 3 new TrueBeams into operation and move the 2 existing Ethos with us from Næstved, so that Radiation Therapy will still contain at least 5 accelerators. A political decision has previously been made to expand to 8 accelerators in Køge.
Are trust, recognition, interdisciplinarity and cohesion also core values for you?
We focus on the individual citizen, and work to anchor and strengthen the development of the good coherent patient processes with solid cross-sector integration and active use of digital opportunities.
We work interdisciplinary and involving patients, i.a. through the use of shared decision-making, and develops tools and approaches that accommodate inequality and fragility.
We protect our educational environment and work to maintain the role as one of the hospital's most popular departments among younger doctors.
We are quick to adopt new technological solutions, we do research and we actively engage in national and multidisciplinary collaborations.
Do you thrive in an organization where there is a short path from idea to action?
The Oncology Department has organized the management in 5 section managements which report to the department management. The other 4 department managements consist of a senior physician and a senior nurse. In addition to the department management in Radiation Therapy, which this posting relates to, we have department management for: oncology outpatient clinic current Roskilde (lung cancer, GI cancer and gynecological cancer), oncology outpatient clinic current Næstved (breast cancer, uro-oncological cancer), oncology bed unit Roskilde and Palliative Unit.

Diagnostic teams have been established under the department managers with a senior physician responsible for diagnosis (team leader) who has professional and qualitative responsibility. Our head/neck cancer team is organized under Radiation Therapy
As a senior physician, you are part of the clinic and have 50% relevant clinical function. In this way, you can maintain your professionalism and at the same time be close to your management area.
Person-centred management
We recognize that people are different and should therefore be treated with an eye for the resources and vulnerabilities they carry with them. It is a value that permeates both our patient treatment and our management style. We are a department with high ceilings and room for diversity. We can be because we prioritize psychological security and person-centred management in our daily work.
