Do you dare to think outside the box? Come to Greenland and get a completely unique introductory position in surgery! Queen Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk offers a 1-year introductory position in surgery per 1 October 2025 or by agreement. The introductory position has been approved by the education committee in Region South. Surgical area The surgical area has 54 beds divided equally between the parenchymal surgery, gynecological-obstetrics department and the orthopedic surgery department, where ear-nose-throat patients are also admitted, 8 beds in the day section and 8 children's beds to be shared with the medical department and 4 cradles. the patient hotel, which is shared with the hospital's other departments and Queen Ingrid's Health Centre, and where out-of-town patients are also admitted for examination and treatment (day hospital function). The department is standardized for 11 senior doctors with 3 in each specialty and senior consultant consultants in ENT, urology and mammary surgery. There is a senior doctor responsible for each specialty, as well as senior doctors responsible for education. Furthermore, there are approx. 10 reserve doctors. The department regularly has students on clinical stays and employs a clinical associate professor associated with AUH. The surgical area annually has approx. 5400 admissions, approx. 500 births and around 2800 operations are performed. In the outpatient clinic, there are 11,500 consultations annually, divided between reserve doctors and specialist doctors. Ambulatory minor interventions and diagnostic examinations such as gastro-, colon-, procto- and cystoscopies, as well as pressure-flow urodynamics and ultrasound investigations are carried out. The doctors in the department carry out consultation-gastroscopy and surgery trips to the coast's health centers, where same-day interventions and scopies are carried out, and a large number of patients are assessed. As an Introductory Doctor, in your daily work you will be associated with the parenchymal surgery department and supervise ward visits, endoscopy and a wide range of elective surgeries. The shifts are shared by the 4 specialties, where a varied spectrum of patients are received within all areas of expertise. Knowledge of Greenlandic conditions and language is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
