Job Description
Do you thrive in a strong professional environment where you are challenged? So choose a career at the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority. We work for well-functioning markets that create growth and high consumer welfare. We are approx. 280 committed colleagues who, like you, are passionate about making a difference. Tasks The Danish Competition and Consumer Authority is looking for a skilled lawyer for a position in the competition center with responsibility for the sectors Health, Industry, Retail and Primary Businesses ("DIPS"). You will have the opportunity to make a difference for the benefit of consumers within industries with great societal importance such as healthcare, agriculture and retail. Right now, for example, there is a large societal focus on daily grocery prices and the food value chain, just as issues of security of supply and competition within the sale of pharmaceuticals have received a large political focus under the current geopolitical situation. The center generally works to strengthen growth and competition within its industries and is responsible for enforcing the Competition Act, conducting market analyzes and providing secretariat services to the Competition Council within our industries. In cooperation with your colleagues, you will solve challenging tasks such as: - Enforcing the competition rules within the centre's industries, including tracking down, investigating and taking action against illegal anti-competitive agreements (e.g. cartels) and against companies that abuse their dominant position - Have a dialogue with companies and other stakeholders about the competition rules and the companies' commercial leeway - Participate in political work and cooperation with other ministries to reduce the extent of anti-competitive regulation - Cooperation with The European Commission and national competition authorities on specific cases as well as participate in the European Competition Network (ECN) - Help assess mergers within the centre's industries in collaboration with the agency's merger unit. We emphasize high professionalism and a matter-of-fact approach to issues and stakeholders. We enforce the competition law effectively, and we get involved in political work. The tasks are solved in an inspiring and strong professional environment in collaboration with your closest colleagues, the agency's other centres, investigators and management as well as external partners. We primarily solve larger tasks in interdisciplinary teams, where lawyers and economists work closely together. Our everyday life is characterized by a good mood and a strong collaboration, where we greatly appreciate sparring with each other. There is a high level of ongoing knowledge sharing, and we attach great importance to you constantly developing professionally and personally. You will have great responsibility for organizing the task solution yourself. About you - Qualified lawyer (cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur.) - High theoretical professional level - Interest in competition law and want to work in the intersection between law and economics - Efficient, thorough and have good communication skills - Able to maintain an overview and work independently, but also appreciates being part of a well-functioning team and contributing with a good mood. It is an advantage if you have concrete experience of handling competition law cases, e.g. from the legal profession or from private or public companies. It is also an advantage if you have experience of working in a politically influenced environment and with the decision-making processes within the public sector. However, experience is not a requirement and recent graduates with a high professional level will also be considered. If you are to be employed as a specialist consultant, we also emphasize that you: - Can provide professional sparring at a high level to both colleagues and managers - Have experience with outward-facing work and can handle stakeholders independently - Ability to organize and manage internal processes in the agency - Have a good eye for strategic goals and can contribute to strategic development Apply for the position The application is sent via the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority's electronic application module at [link removed] Your application with CV, diplomas and transcripts must be received no later than 02 April 2025.
