Job Description
Lawyer to enforce the competition rules in construction, energy, transport, telecommunications and service. Do you want to help ensure free and fair competition within the construction, energy and telecommunications sectors, the transport industry and a number of service industries? Do you thrive in a strong professional environment and in an everyday life where things are never the same. Are you motivated by the fact that you can help shape legal practice in the field of competition and develop proposals for good regulation? So choose a career at the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority. We work for well-functioning markets that create growth and high consumer welfare. Tasks At the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority we work for well-functioning markets and enforce the competition law. The board tracks down and takes action against violations of the Competition Act, e.g. illegal cartels. We take action against large companies that abuse their dominant position. For example, it could be companies that push smaller competitors out of the market. We assess major mergers and analyze the competition in specific markets. Our work has a real effect on Danish society and the individual consumer. The Center for construction, energy, transport, telecommunications, service (BETS) has within the centre's branches the responsibility for enforcing the competition law, market monitoring and analysis of the markets. As enforcers of the Competition Act, we are independent and refer here to the Competition Council. The center also contributes to policy development in the area, both in a Danish context and at EU level, including when preparing consultation responses. We are looking for a lawyer who wants to work with an area that has a direct impact on consumers, companies and society. You will, in collaboration with your colleagues, solve challenging tasks that create results, for example: Enforce the competition rules in the centre's industries, including discovering, investigating and taking action against illegal agreements restricting competition (e.g. cartels) and against companies that abuse their dominant position Assess notifiable mergers in collaboration with our merger unit Prepare analyzes of the competition in relevant markets and possibly proposal for amended regulation, which ensures more well-functioning markets Work to reduce the extent and effects of competition-restricting regulation in close cooperation with the responsible ministries Be in dialogue with companies and other stakeholders about the competition rules and the companies' commercial leeway Cooperation with the European Commission and national competition authorities on specific cases in the European Competition Network (ECN) on specific cases. You will have great responsibility for organizing and solving the tasks. Your efforts will be important for the agency to carry out its tasks competently and efficiently. You have good communication skills, an investigative approach and you are outgoing and persistent in your task-solving.
