Do you want to work in close collaboration with the maritime industry? Do you want to help ensure that the inspection of ships is about safety, protection of the marine environment, and ensuring a good working environment on board? Then you might be one of the Danish Maritime Authority's new ship inspectors, who will especially help to strengthen our port state control of foreign ships. We are currently looking for new colleagues for our offices in Aarhus, Frederikshavn or Thyborøn, who will be part of the Danish Maritime Authority's work in supervising both Danish and foreign ships. At the same time, you will be involved in the authority's work with servicing, supervision and approvals of maritime activities, ships, shipping companies and other maritime actors. About the job You will be part of the Safe Ships unit, where together with skilled colleagues you will contribute to promoting safety at sea, protection of the marine environment and good conditions for the crew. In addition, you will also be part of our other ship inspectors, who also promote safety and growth in the maritime area. Your tasks will therefore include, among other things: Port state control of foreign ships Technical and operational supervision of Danish ships Approval work with ships, shipping companies and other maritime actors. Handling inquiries from citizens, seafarers, shipping companies and manufacturers. Cooperation with authorities on legislation, supervision and approvals of maritime activities. It is important that you are service minded and communicate at eye level in writing and speech. Through constructive dialogue with crews, citizens and businesses, you must contribute to supporting and promoting the safety work in their activities and operations and that the business has conditions that support continued growth and the possibilities for their work. You will have the opportunity to specialize in various subject areas with good opportunities for both personal and professional development in collaboration with good colleagues. After completing an "on-boarding" course, you will be enrolled in a training course, so that you can subsequently carry out the task as a port state inspector (Port State Control Officer). The work will consist of an interaction between office work and visual work out on board. About you There are several ways to the position of ship inspector in the Danish Maritime Authority. To apply for the position, you must have a maritime technical background, e.g. as: Machinist Engineer Dual-officer Navigator It will be an advantage if you have created a maritime foundation through experience at sea. The Danish Maritime Authority expects you to: Be professionally strong, service-minded and flexible. Can act as a role model and communicate safety.
