Job Description
A large number of Danish companies, including several of the very largest, are wholly or partly owned by commercial foundations. The Danish Business Authority supervises the approx. 1,450 commercial foundations, and we need more people on the team who can help ensure that the purposes of the foundations are safeguarded and that the foundations are managed responsibly and in accordance with the articles of association and legislation. So if you have an interest in company law, this position will be for you. About the work of the fund supervisory board Funds differ from other forms of business in that there are no owners who – as the general meeting in e.g. a joint-stock or private limited company – can influence the dispositions of the fund board or can ensure that the fund is managed properly and legally. As the fund authority for the commercial foundations, we must therefore, among other things, allow changes to the articles of association, merger and liquidation as well as consent to extraordinary dispositions, including e.g. major restructuring. In addition, we must carry out checks on the articles of association and annual reports of the business foundations on our own initiative. All tasks are distributed between us, and we each have independent responsibility for solving them. This means that you will quickly come into contact with many of the areas mentioned above. We work professionally and based on dialogue, which is why correspondence with fund boards and their legal advisers is a significant part of our daily work. Correspondence primarily takes place either in writing or by telephone, but we also occasionally hold physical meetings. However, the job does not include outgoing supervisory work. "One of the advantages of being employed in the Danish Business Authority's fund supervision is that you get the opportunity to work with and specialize in a field that you normally don't deal with very much during your studies, and which at the same time occupies much more space in the Danish business community and in the wider society than you would generally assume" - William, lawyer in the fund supervision. About you You have a degree in law, cand.merc.(law.), cand.merc.aud. or has an equivalent social science higher education at master's level. It will be an advantage if you have experience in company law, fund law or administrative law and also have experience in supervisory work. If you have an understanding of accounting, it is also an advantage, as the foundations' annual reports are an important source in the supervisory work. In addition, you must be good at expressing yourself in writing and orally. You must like to immerse yourself and work within a specialized area of law, where you yourself are responsible for the progress of your cases, just as you must be able to see yourself as part of a team where there is a strong focus on professionalism and immersion. The legal, very specific issues we often encounter may necessitate an oral discussion in the team. It must therefore be natural for you to both give and receive sparring on a daily basis. We imagine that you are curious, thorough and have a professional approach to solving your work tasks. You will fit in well with the team if you show commitment, take initiative and at the same time contribute positively to the good collegial unity. Experienced as well as newly graduated candidates can be considered for the position. We make sure to give you thorough training so that you have the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the position. You will also be assigned a tutor at the start of your employment. About the team You will become part of a team consisting of 7 skilled and ambitious employees. Half of us have a background as a Master of Laws. and the other half as a MSc. (jur.), so you enter a strong professional environment of colleagues who have a deep interest and understanding of the field. We sit in an open office environment, which makes it easy to spar and share knowledge with colleagues. To ensure good working conditions, we have introduced daily quiet time, just as you can use a MuteBox or be given a noise-reducing headset. There is also the possibility of homework.
