Job Description

Do you want to monitor and direct train traffic so that thousands of passengers arrive safely? Then you might be our new traffic manager! We are looking for traffic controllers for the S-Bahn in Copenhagen and the Fjernibanen in Fredericia, starting on 4 August 2025. As part of the employment, you must complete a paid training course of approx. 6 months, which enables you to handle the job as a traffic manager. As a traffic manager, you get right into the heart of the railway, where together with your colleagues you manage the traffic by keeping an overview of the trains running. You will be responsible for monitoring and managing train traffic, with a strong focus on safety. You must be ready to step in and act as soon as delays or unforeseen problems arise so that we can maintain a safe and punctual railway. An exciting education and a challenging everyday life, where you ensure that the trains run on time. The education consists of a mixture of theory and internship. As part of the education, you must be prepared that there will be preparation in the form of reading material up to and during the theory lessons. Theory teaching and practice takes place in Copenhagen for the S-Bahn and in Fredericia for the Fjernbanen. During the course, there are several tests you must pass in order to become a traffic controller and continue your employment. After completing and passing the training, you are guaranteed a job as a traffic controller. As a traffic manager, you will be a key person in one of Banedanmark's most important core tasks, which also gives you good development opportunities in the long term. Both during the training and afterwards, you work closely with your colleagues. You will work in three shifts, around the clock and all 365 days of the year. We therefore attach great importance to team spirit and it is important to us that you help create a good atmosphere in the workplace. A good overview with a view to making the right decisions It is not essential what educational or occupational background you have, but we expect you to have passed the 9th grade leaving exam. You will fit in well with the job if you can recognize yourself in the following descriptions: You enjoy following/observing procedures and agreements and it is a matter of course for you to comply with applicable regulations and rules. You manage to follow a planned strategy. You are comfortable alternating between a calm work pace and sudden bustle. Pentecost, etc.). Health requirements and important knowledge For the sake of traffic safety, communication must be in Danish, just as certain health requirements must also be met. The recruitment process In the recruitment process, the employment committee assesses whether you will be invited to an entrance exam on the basis of your application. The admission test is a full day and consists of a practical test and a
written test. The practical test consists of a traffic exercise where you have to cooperate with other candidates to control the traffic between fictitious stations. For this exercise, you will receive some material in advance that you need to practice well in order to pass the day. The tasks in the written test test your skills and your logical approach to problem solving, your understanding of shapes, colors and systems and your ability to understand and pass on important information. We do this to ensure that you have what it takes to be a traffic controller. If you go on after the first part of the entrance exam, the recruitment committee then assesses who will be invited to a personal interview, where we would very much like to hear a little more about you and your motivation for applying for the Traffic Manager training. We are also interested in hearing how you relate to the terms of both the education and the job, including e.g. the working hours, the salary and the responsibilities that come with the tasks as a traffic controller. If we offer you employment, you must finally participate in a health examination at the Flight Medical Clinic in Kastrup, as this is a requirement to work as a traffic controller (expenses for the health examination are borne by Banedanmark and transport costs are reimbursed by Banedanmark regardless of residence (however, only applies to residences in Denmark). The days for the recruitment process have already been determined and it is therefore important that you can participate on one of the following days, depending on where in the country you live: Monday 28 April 2025 between 8.30 and 18.30: Admission test in Fredericia 101 - 7000. Thursday 1 May and 2 May 2025 between 8.30 and 18.30 interviews in week 19 and 20. and health examination at Flyvemedicin in Kastrup on Thursday 22 May and Friday 23 May 2025. Salary The employment is covered by the Joint Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and Public Employees' Organizations and the Organizational Agreement between Banedanmark and HK State for traffic employees. During the training, the salary excluding pension is DKK 27,450 DKK 28,459.53 in the capital and as a fully qualified traffic manager the salary is DKK 32,354.96 in the province and DKK 32,893.26 in the capital.
