Job Description
Where will you work:
The kitchen team consists of chefs, sous chefs, cooks, pastry chefs, buffet runners and waiters. It is an interactive and dynamic environment. All guests enjoy delicious culinary creations with impeccable service. This service can include from cooking, setting up the buffet and presenting the dishes to receiving raw materials and ensuring a clean environment in the kitchen, as well as in the restaurant.
Position Description:
Each cook supports all kitchen functions related to the cooking, preparation or restocking of the buffet restaurant or bar where they will be working to ensure that the 5 star service standards set by the company are followed at all times.
Main responsibilities:
Prepares his/her workplace and performs all tasks related to the start and end of each meal (mise en place).
Performs his/her tasks quickly within requested time frames, combining multiple tasks in parallel.
It supports the needs of the hot or cold kitchen.
Prepares the raw materials and cooks following the Chef's instructions.
Collects cooking tools and utensils (knives, pans, pots, etc.) from storage areas.
He/she is responsible for his/her station (grill, pan, chopping, oven, etc.).
Ensures at all times that his/her work area, as well as the buffet, is in good condition and clean.
He understands all the items on the menu so he is able to answer questions and give clarifications to guests whenever needed.
Assists in all restaurant or bar related tasks as directed by the F&B manager, Chef or his/her immediate supervisor.
Necessary qualifications:
Culinary degree
At least 2 years of professional kitchen experience in either an a la carte or buffet restaurant, ideally in a hotel environment
Knowledge of new culinary practices and trends
Experience in different styles of cuisine (eg Italian, Chinese, etc.)
Necessary skills:
Good and comfortable communication with customers
Creativity and imagination
Enthusiasm, professionalism and appetite to learn, develop and become part of a constantly growing team
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Ability to respond effectively under pressure and provide high quality service in a luxurious environment
Team spirit
