Job Description

Herlev Hospital is one of the country's largest emergency hospitals and has the vision "Well treated" for all - patients, relatives and employees. About our department The Department of Stomach, Intestinal and Liver Diseases is looking for a committed and motivated nurse for our lower surgery department. With us, we perform both emergency and planned operations, and provide basic as well as specialized and complex nursing care. We work based on the ERAS principles - Enhanced Recovery After Surgery. This means that pre-, peri- and post-operatively we work based on some basic principles and procedures, which aim to optimize the patient's situation, prevent complications and shorten the hospital stay. As a nurse, you will be trained in many basic and complex nursing tasks, based on the patient's needs and clinical condition. There can e.g. be it nutrition, drainage and catheter care, rehabilitation, wound and stoma care, palliation, nursing care for the acutely ill patient, etc. The department contains a surgical section with a total of 41 beds divided between upper and lower surgery. In addition, we have a medical section with room for 16 patients. In day-to-day life, there is a close collaboration between head nurses and clinical specialists in the departments between to increase both professionalism and the working environment. All 3 sections focus on workflows, structure, learning, sparring, interdisciplinarity and a good working environment where we help each other. Who are our patients? Our patients have diseases of the small intestine, large intestine and anus, and we specialize in fistula problems. Many of our patients come to us with to have cancer surgery performed, and we are therefore very close to patients who are in a difficult place in their lives. Therefore, palliation is also an important part of our everyday life, and you must therefore want to take care of not only the physical, but also the psychosocial part of nursing care. Per On 1 September 2024, we have started treating patients who have undergone cytoreductive surgery (CRS surgery). Cytoreductive surgery aims to reduce widespread disease involvement in patients with widespread cancer. We work from the vision of holistic care, as we consider this approach meaningful in terms of meeting patients' needs. The solid, basic nursing care is an important part of the foundation for feeling "Well treated" - regardless of whether you have just had surgery or if you have complications as a result of your underlying disease and/or previous surgery. Collaboration and onboarding In everyday life, we work together in clinical partner pairs, i.e. 2-3 colleagues together, where the focus is on supporting each other's competences, knowledge and skills. In addition, we have a broad team of interdisciplinary collaborators: The department's doctors, physiotherapists, dieticians, occupational therapists and pharmacologists we regularly spar with, with the aim of ensuring our patients the best possible treatment and care. Are you interested in seeing glimpses of our everyday life in the bed section and in the department? Here you talk about everything from municipal cooperation to fluid balance. After the introduction period, you will be paired with colleagues who will train and support you through your further development as a nurse. We offer an introductory period of 6 weeks, where we focus on training, teaching and relevant course activities for you. Your colleagues will train and support you through your development. A basic course where you are introduced to the most frequently occurring diagnoses and complications in the specialty. An everyday life that is varied, sometimes unpredictable and with many changing tasks, which provides the opportunity for new insight and experience in the surgical specialty. A working environment characterized by commitment, co-influence and co-responsibility, as well as a department with colleagues who prioritize professional quality and development. Close cooperation with all professional groups - we are good at sparring across professional groups, so that together we can create the best possible treatment for our patients. A present and visible management. An everyday life in our new Akuthus with bright surroundings and where all our patients have private rooms. Terms of employment We can offer
